The super deluxe version of the animated group's self-titled debut will feature new vinyl pressings of the original album, companion releases G-Sides and the Spacemonkeys remix album Laika Come Home (in its first release on vinyl) - plus a previously unreleased 2001 live concert recorded at The Forum outside Los Angeles as well as a five-track disc of unheard demos. It comes in a folio-style hardback package along with 27 pages of "seized" original drawings, storyboards and paperwork plus two Polaroid-style mugshots.
This initial run of vinyl sets is a first edition limited to 4000 copies and exclusive to the group's official store (with a special foil stamp marking it as such on the set's binding), but a second pressing will be available in all stores sometime next year.
Conceived by Blur frontman Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett, the virtual band - comprised of the characters 2-D (vocals/keyboards), Murdoc Niccals (bass), Noodle (guitar) and Russel Hobbs (drums) - blend elements of hip-hop, electronica, rock and world music with a striking visual stage show, seven studio albums and countless multimedia (including Song Machine Live, a 2020 concert event coming to theaters in December).
