Gorillaz to Celebrate 20th Anniversary

Get ready to feel good: Gorillaz announced plans for a 20th anniversary celebration throughout the year on the anniversary of their self-titled debut.

Conceived by musician Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett, the virtual band - comprised of animated characters 2-D (vocals/keyboards), Murdoc Niccals (bass), Noodle (guitar) and Russel Hobbs (drums) - blend elements of hip-hop, electronica, rock and world music with a striking visual stage show, seven studio albums and countless multimedia.

Gorillaz, released March 26, 2001, spun off the U.K. Top 10 hits "Clint Eastwood" and "19-2000." Other hits include the U.K. chart-topper "Dare," "Dirty Harry" and "Feel Good Inc.," all from the band's sophomore album Demon Days (2005). "Feel Good Inc.," featuring rap verses by De La Soul, is the band's biggest hit in America, winning a Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.)

Announced in the group's anniversary plans in 2021: the band's own clothing line, the G Foot Collection; limited edition toys in partnership with Superplastic, and a series of album reissues kicked off by Gorillaz, to feature "early ideas, deep dive musical moments, demos, early drawings and never-before-seen-or-heard Gorillaz memories."
